Electrolux Vacuum Cleaners – Worth The Price?
Electrolux Lineage
Electrolux vacuum cleaners have been around since the early 1900s. Originally from Sweden, the name was “Elektrolux” has been keeping carpets clean for a long, long, time. It goes without saying that Electrolux has been providing quality vacuum cleaners for several generations.
Electrolux was the first manufacturer to offer the automatic vacuum cleaner, the Trilobite. Their product line includes a variety of models, so whether you prefer a canister, upright, or a combination, Electrolux has a vacuum for you.
We’ll take a look at some popular Electrolux vacuum along with actual customer feedback regarding their purchase and use of the model.
Electrolux EL5020A Intensity Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Electrolux name this vacuum “Intensity” for a reason – it pours on the power. The intensity is designed so you don’t have to go over the same section of carpet time and time again. One shot and dirt, dust, and debris is whisked away — with Intensity!
The model is powered by a 12 amp motor and it’s a short trip for dirt to go from the floor to the bag. Just three little inches. (Longer ‘dirt paths’ reduce performance and ’sucking’ power.) The controls are conveniently placed at your finger tips allowing a switch to carpet and bare floors.
When cleaning carpet, the Intensity automatically adjusts to different pile heights and the spinning brushroll provides deep-down cleaning action. On bare floors, the brushroll does not spin and thus protecting the surface from scratches and abrasions.
The Intensity cleans with a 12 inch ’swath’ and along with side edge cleaning brushes makes fast cleaning of even large surface areas. (Side brushes are important to get right up next to the baseboards otherwise you’ll be leaving up to an inch of untouched carpet.)
This Electrolux model also will signal you via indicator lights when the large 1-quart bag or HEPA filter is due for a change. The telescopic handle, with soft-touch grip, is also easily adjusted so you can find the most comfortable height for your reach and ease of use. The handle also folds in half for easy storage as is the long 21-foot retractable cord.
User Comments About the Electrolux EL5020A Intensity Upright Vacuum Cleaner
The vast majority of Intensity owners are very satisfied with their purchase and performance of this model. Here is a sampling of product feedback from these customers.
“From the first try, I was amazed at the suction. The first time through the house I quickly filled the bag and had to change it. The Intensity pulled up all the little carpet fuzz on the 3-year-old carpet that my old vacuum could never get. It has more power than any other vacuum I’ve used.”
“It cleans much better that my old vacuum, leaving my 15 year old carpets looking fresh and clean. It transitions easily from carpets to hardwood and tile surfaces at the touch of a button.”
“This is a really great vacuum if you want something compact. It has great suctioning power! Changing the bags is easy and it’s nice that dirt and debris doesn’t get all over your hands or you cleaned carpet.”
Electrolux EL 7020B Oxy3 Ultra Canister Vacuum
The Electrolux Oxy3 ULTRA with the Beta power head option is specifically made to produce more power on carpets. But it makes fast work of cleaning bare floors too!
The Oxy3 ULTRA has filter and bag indicator lights so you know when to change them for maximum vacuuming power. And speaking of the filter, the Oxy3 collects and captures 99.97% of all the dust, allergens, and small particles to leave your home clean as it can possibly be. With a press of the handle, the Oxy3 will automatically rewind the cord.
Owners of the Electrolux EL 7020B Oxy3 Ultra Canister Vacuum seemed to be quite happy with their purchase. Over 50 of them felt prompted to share their experience and half of those reporting in gave the Oxy3 5-Stars. And the vast majority of the remaining responders gave it 5 stars! Here’s what they had to say about this Electrolux model:
“I am totally thrilled with the product for the price. I have owned Electrolux products in the past that were more expensive and a Hoover product for about the same price. To say the least I am back to Electrolux. I love being able to go under furniture, and being able to disconnect head and use in tight or unusual spots with various attachments. We have a dog and this is a wonderful fur finder! The filtration systems are great for keeping dust and dirt where it belongs once it is sucked up. I’ll never stray from Electrolux again.”
“The canister itself is better than others I have worked with. It moved effortlessly. I did not find it was crashing into walls or getting caught up on furniture. It was extremely quiet as well. I found the cord length to be sufficient (I have quite a large house and didn’t have change outlets anymore often than with other vacuums) and the extra length on the hose made cleaning higher items easier.”
“This new Electrolux is a very nice machine. Only negatives I would identify is that the power carpet sweeper is noisier than most. Also the size of the dust collector bag is quite small & will require more frequent changing. “
The comment about the small dust bag size was one repeatedly found. But many owners contributed it to the initial cleaning when their Electrolux truly ‘deep cleaned’ their carpets for the first time! Even though they claimed to be ‘neat freaks’, their Electrolux was pulling out dirt, dust and debris they didn’t realize was hiding in their carpets. So even this ‘negative’ is actually a positive testament for the awesome cleaning power of Electrolux vacuum cleaners.
